Governors' Report Card

The Cato Institute issued a Fiscal Policy Report Card on the nation's governors. Four governors scored an A: Arnold Schwarzenegger (R California), Craig Benson (R New Hampshire), Bill Owens (R Colorado), and Judy Martz (R)Montana). Four others scored an F: Bob Taft (R Ohio), Bob Holden (D Missouri), James McGreevey (D New Jersey), and Edward Rendell (D Pennsylvania). You can link to Cato for the complete listing.

I cannot speak for the others, but living in Northern California, I know what has been happening here, and I would heartily agree with Arnold's A score. In a short time, he has truly turned things around here, and it looks like he has just begun. By the end of his governorship, California should be totally unrecognizable to a Rip van Winkle who slept through his tenure.
